session three of Artemisia’s Hearth
10:30 am - 12:30 pm PST
From the roots of a hazel tree, Cinderella’s mother sends up shining gowns and talking birds. Beneath the roots of the tree are her mother’s bones. In older versions of Cinderella, we follow the thread of a spindle into a chasm in the earth. From that thread comes a journey of transformation, and the transferral of wisdom from mother to daughter. In this session, we will enter the Motherhouse where Cinderella’s mother’s bones are buried. We will listen to doves, and tree roots, and don the moon, sun and stars, carrying the question, what does it mean to allow ourselves to be mothered by the living world?
This is the last of my three winter storytelling & writing sessions, which have been such a true joy to share with those of you who have participated. I have been profoundly moved by each of the stories as I’ve brought them through my heart and body to share aloud with you, and moved by the ways you have responded to the stories and what we have woven together each session in the tale’s wake. I can’t wait to see what arises for all of us with this version of Cinderella…
If you’d like to join us tomorrow, you can register here! A recording will be available for one month after the class date.
I won’t offer another round of online sessions like this before the summer at the earliest, so now’s the time to hop on in if you have been needing some story magic. I’ll be turning my energy more fully toward the non-digital realms for the next season, with in-person events, manuscript editing, novel finishing, and book reprinting all on the near horizon.
