A few days ago I was struck with the sudden inspiration to add a new offering to the tapestry here on my Substack— a summer series of creative prompts recorded for you in video form.
These recordings will be for paid subscribers only, save this first one which is for all of you to enjoy. I’ll share them every two or so weeks, with my usual written work between.
Those of you who’ve participated in some of my writing workshops will recognize the format— I’ll talk a bit about a certain theme, invariably with some mythic content involved, I’ll read a poem or two that I love, and I’ll give you the chance to write in connection to what I’ve shared.
Today’s offering is a bit longer than I intend them to be, because in it I give an introduction to the format, and talk a bit about why you don’t need to be a writer of any sort to enjoy or to get something out of these readings and prompts.
Then I launch into a rumination about Artemis and some of her pre-Hellenic aspects, and off we go into a poem by Gary Snyder, another by Lucille Clifton, and our writing…
Please feel free to share what you write or what you wonder about in the comments below; I always love hearing what comes through.
